Ingredients

  • 2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over medium-high heat. Add sweet potatoes and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot.
  3. Add the softened butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper to the sweet potatoes.
  4. Using a potato masher or electric mixer, whip the sweet potatoes until smooth and creamy.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  6. Serve warm, drizzled with additional maple syrup if desired.
