Description
A deliciously rich and moist cake inspired by the Taurus zodiac sign, perfect for celebrating birthdays or special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (for decoration)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, stack the cakes on top of each other. Dust the top with powdered sugar and cocoa powder to create a decorative Taurus symbol.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider incorporating chocolate chips or nuts into the batter.
- You can frost the cake with your favorite frosting or enjoy it plain.
