- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water (110°F)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, and knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine mozzarella, ricotta, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into strips, about 2-3 inches wide. Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture on one end of each strip.
- Fold the dough over the cheese filling and press the edges to seal. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the breadsticks.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add herbs or spices to the cheese mixture.
- These breadsticks can be frozen before baking; just bake them straight from the freezer, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
