Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup active sourdough starter
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup spinach puree (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the active sourdough starter and warm water. Mix well.
- Add in the spinach puree, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley. Stir until combined.
- Gradually add the flour and salt to the mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 4-6 hours or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover again and let it rise for another 1-2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a Dutch oven, place it inside to preheat as well.
- Make a few slashes on the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, until the crust is golden and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
- For a greener bread, you can adjust the amount of spinach puree to your liking.
