A delicious and easy recipe for slow cooker BBQ pulled pork that is perfect for sandwiches, tacos, or served on its own.

- 4 pounds pork shoulder (also known as pork butt), trimmed
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it is well coated.
- Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
- In another bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth. Pour this mixture over the pork in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-6 hours, until the pork is tender and easy to shred.
- Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the sauce.
- Serve the pulled pork on buns, in tacos, or with your favorite sides.
Notes
- For extra flavor, let the pork marinate in the spice rub overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.
- Feel free to adjust the level of heat by adding more or less cayenne pepper or using a spicy BBQ sauce.
- This pulled pork can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
