Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 ripe pears, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
  • 1 cup arugula, for topping
  • Balsamic glaze, for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
  2. In a bowl, toss the sliced pears with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Spread the pears out on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until they are tender and slightly caramelized. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  4. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Spread the crumbled Gorgonzola cheese evenly over the dough, followed by the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Add the roasted pears on top of the cheese, and sprinkle with chopped walnuts if using.
  7. Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the pizza stone) and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Top with fresh arugula and drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired.
  9. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Feel free to add other toppings like caramelized onions or prosciutto for extra flavor.
  • For a healthier option, use whole wheat pizza dough.
