Description
Delicious and visually stunning puff pastry apple rose tarts that are perfect for dessert or a special occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 2 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Fuji)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup apricot jam or fruit preserves
- Flour for dusting
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth it out.
- Cut the puff pastry into 6 equal rectangles.
- In a bowl, mix the lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon together.
- Thinly slice the apples and toss them in the lemon mixture to prevent browning.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, warm the apple slices for about 1-2 minutes until slightly softened.
- Take a rectangle of puff pastry and spread a thin layer of apricot jam over it.
- Layer the apple slices along one edge of the pastry, overlapping them slightly to create a rose effect.
- Fold the other side of the pastry over the apples and gently roll it up to form a rose.
- Place the rolled tarts in a muffin tin to help maintain their shape.
- Repeat with the remaining pastry and apples.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a dash of vanilla extract to the apricot jam.
- Feel free to experiment with different types of apples for varied flavors.
- These tarts can be made ahead of time and baked just before serving.
