  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Delicious and visually stunning puff pastry apple rose tarts that are perfect for dessert or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Fuji)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup apricot jam or fruit preserves
  • Flour for dusting
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth it out.
  3. Cut the puff pastry into 6 equal rectangles.
  4. In a bowl, mix the lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon together.
  5. Thinly slice the apples and toss them in the lemon mixture to prevent browning.
  6. In a microwave-safe bowl, warm the apple slices for about 1-2 minutes until slightly softened.
  7. Take a rectangle of puff pastry and spread a thin layer of apricot jam over it.
  8. Layer the apple slices along one edge of the pastry, overlapping them slightly to create a rose effect.
  9. Fold the other side of the pastry over the apples and gently roll it up to form a rose.
  10. Place the rolled tarts in a muffin tin to help maintain their shape.
  11. Repeat with the remaining pastry and apples.
  12. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  13. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add a dash of vanilla extract to the apricot jam.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of apples for varied flavors.
  • These tarts can be made ahead of time and baked just before serving.
