- 4 cups fresh peaches, sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar.
- Add in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the flour mixture. Stir until just combined.
- Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter over the peaches, covering as much surface area as possible.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your peach cobbler warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can sprinkle some chopped pecans or walnuts on top before baking.
- If using canned peaches, drain them well and reduce the sugar to taste.
