Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Toss to coat the peaches evenly. Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and the remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar.
- Stir in the milk and melted butter until just combined. Spoon the batter over the peaches, covering them evenly.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and nutmeg over the batter.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the cobbler comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of cardamom or ginger to the peach filling.
- You can use frozen peaches if fresh ones are not available; just make sure to thaw and drain them before use.
- Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a delicious dessert.
