Miso Caramel Brownies: Irresistible Sweet and Savory Treats

Deliciously rich brownies infused with a unique miso caramel flavor, creating a perfect balance of sweet and savory.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups (250g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (130g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) miso caramel sauce
  • Sea salt for sprinkling on top

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Drizzle half of the miso caramel sauce over the brownie batter, then use a knife to swirl it slightly.
  8. Pour the remaining brownie batter on top and repeat the caramel drizzle and swirl with the remaining miso caramel sauce.
  9. Sprinkle sea salt on top to enhance the flavor.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

  • For the miso caramel sauce, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup of water, and 1/2 cup of miso paste in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until thickened.
  • These brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
