Description
Deliciously flaky and filled with a creamy matcha-infused cream cheese filling, these Matcha Cream Cheese Danishes are perfect for a sweet breakfast or snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons matcha green tea powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into squares, about 4×4 inches.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, matcha powder, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Place a tablespoon of the matcha cream cheese filling in the center of each puff pastry square.
- Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a diamond shape, pinching the edges to seal.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked.
- Place the danishes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
Notes
- You can use store-bought puff pastry or make your own for a more homemade touch.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of matcha powder to suit your taste preferences.
