Mango Sticky Rice: The Perfect Thai Dessert for Any Occasion

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

A delicious Thai dessert made with sweet sticky rice, fresh mango, and a creamy coconut sauce. Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup
  • 1 1/2 cups
  • 1/2 cup
  • 1/4 teaspoon
  • 2
  • as needed

Instructions

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam for about 30-40 minutes or until the rice is cooked through and sticky.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not let it boil.
  4. Reserve about 1/3 cup of the coconut mixture for serving. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the remaining coconut mixture over it. Mix well and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
  5. To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, arrange sliced mango on the side, and drizzle with the reserved coconut sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired.

Notes

  • Make sure to use glutinous rice, as regular rice will not yield the same sticky texture.
  • For a richer coconut flavor, you can increase the amount of coconut milk used.
