- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs (optional for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until thickened and bubbly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni and mix well.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. If desired, sprinkle bread crumbs on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
