Description
Light and fluffy homemade waffles that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect for breakfast or brunch!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and then whisk in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- Grease the waffle iron with non-stick spray or a little oil if needed.
- Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron, using the recommended amount for your specific model.
- Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crispy, usually about 5 minutes.
- Carefully remove the waffles and serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For extra fluffy waffles, separate the egg whites and beat them until stiff peaks form, then fold them into the batter at the end.
- You can keep cooked waffles warm in a low oven while you finish cooking the rest.
