A delightful cake to celebrate Mother’s Day, topped with fresh flowers and a rich frosting.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 2 cups frosting of your choice (buttercream or cream cheese recommended)
- Fresh flowers (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost the top of one cake layer. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
- Decorate with fresh flowers as desired.
Notes
- Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
- Feel free to add food coloring to the frosting for a more festive look.
