- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups of royal icing (colored as desired for decorating)
- Food coloring (blue, black, or school colors)
- Cookie cutters (graduation gown shape)
- Piping bags
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until the mixture is well combined.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Use a graduation gown cookie cutter to cut out shapes and place them on an ungreased baking sheet.

- Once cooled, use royal icing to decorate the cookies in your desired colors, allowing each layer to dry before adding more details.

- You can personalize the gowns with the graduate’s name or year using a piping bag.
