- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttercream frosting
- 12 ounces chocolate candy melts
- Black candy or chocolate for the tassels
- Lollipop sticks
- Styrofoam block for displaying cake pops
Instructions
- Preheat the oven according to the cake mix instructions and prepare a cake pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake according to package instructions. Let it cool completely.
- Once cooled, crumble the cake into a large bowl and add the buttercream frosting. Mix until well combined.
- Form small balls of the cake mixture and place them on a baking sheet. Freeze for about 30 minutes.
- Melt the chocolate candy melts according to package instructions.
- Dip the end of a lollipop stick into the melted chocolate and insert it into each cake ball. This helps to hold the stick in place.
- Dip each cake pop into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off, and place them in the Styrofoam block to set.
- Once the chocolate is set, use melted black candy or chocolate to create the graduation cap tassels on top of each pop.
- Allow to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- You can customize the colors of the chocolate candy melts to match the school’s colors.
- These cake pops can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container.
