Celebrate your graduate’s achievement with this stunning graduation cake that is sure to impress! It’s not just a cake; it’s a centerpiece for the celebration. With layers of moist cake, rich frosting, and fun decorations, this cake will be the highlight of the party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups buttercream frosting
  • Fondant or edible decorations for graduation theme

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once the cakes are completely cool, spread a layer of buttercream frosting on top of one cake layer. Place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the entire cake.
  8. Decorate with fondant or edible decorations to reflect the graduation theme. Consider adding a cap and diploma decoration for a personalized touch.
  9. Slice and serve at your graduation party!

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the cake flavors or frosting to suit your graduate’s preferences.
  • For an extra special touch, add edible glitter or gold sprinkles to match school colors.
