- 4 chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
- 4 chicken drumsticks
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add chicken pieces and coat well. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
- In a separate shallow dish, add the flour. Remove chicken from the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in flour, coating evenly.
- Place the breaded chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray lightly with cooking spray to help achieve a crispy texture.
- Air fry for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
- Remove from the air fryer and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispy skin, you can double dredge the chicken by returning it to the buttermilk and then back to the flour before air frying.
- Feel free to adjust the seasoning to your taste. You can add cayenne pepper for extra heat!
