- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 to 3 tablespoons milk
- Food coloring (red, blue, yellow)
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

- Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass, and decorate with sprinkles if desired.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
- To make the icing, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Divide into separate bowls and add food coloring to each bowl to create different colors.
- Once cookies are cool, decorate with colored icing and additional sprinkles as desired.
Notes
- For best results, chill the cookie dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before baking.
- Feel free to get creative with the icing colors and designs to mimic fireworks!
