Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry sheets
  • 1 cup of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup of fresh chives, chopped
  • 1/2 cup of diced bell pepper (red or green)
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Assorted crackers for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped chives, diced bell pepper, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until combined.
  4. Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture in the center of each puff pastry square.
  5. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a pocket and seal the edges by pressing down.
  6. Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Arrange the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving with assorted crackers.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite ingredients, such as spinach or bacon.
  • These appetizers can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking. Just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from frozen.
