Description
Classic deviled eggs are a perfect appetizer or snack, featuring creamy yolks mixed with mayonnaise and mustard, topped with paprika for a flavorful touch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large eggs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Paprika for garnish
- Chives or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Hard boil the eggs: Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then cover and remove from heat. Let sit for 12 minutes.
- Cool the eggs: Transfer the eggs to an ice water bath to cool for at least 5 minutes.
- Peel the eggs: Gently tap the eggs on a hard surface and peel under running water to remove the shells easily.
- Prepare the filling: Cut the eggs in half lengthwise and remove the yolks. In a bowl, mash the yolks with a fork and mix in mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Fill the egg whites: Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg whites.
- Garnish: Sprinkle paprika on top and add chopped chives or parsley if desired.
- Serve: Enjoy immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
- For a twist, try adding avocado or bacon to the yolk mixture.
- You can prepare the filling ahead of time and fill the eggs just before serving.
