Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 1 cup milk, warm
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 egg, for egg wash
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add cold butter to the flour mixture and mix until crumbly.
- Pour in the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
- Wrap the dough in plastic and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, fold it into thirds, and refrigerate again for 30 minutes.
- Repeat the rolling and folding process two more times.
- Cut the dough into triangles and roll them into croissant shapes.
- Place on a baking sheet and let rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Brush croissants with egg wash and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Ensure butter is cold for flaky layers.
- Use a sharp knife for cutting dough.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
