Description
Deliciously crispy waffle fries that are easy to prepare and perfect as a snack or side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut the potatoes into thick slices, then use a waffle cutter or knife to create a waffle pattern on each slice.
- Soak the waffle-cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and create a crispier fry.
- Drain and pat the potatoes dry with paper towels.
- In a large bowl, toss the dried waffle fries with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper until evenly coated.
- Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your crispy waffle fries!
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can double fry the potatoes. Fry them once at a lower temperature, then let them cool and fry again at a higher temperature.
- Feel free to experiment with different seasonings to customize your waffle fries.
