Description

Deliciously crispy waffle fries that are easy to prepare and perfect as a snack or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut the potatoes into thick slices, then use a waffle cutter or knife to create a waffle pattern on each slice.
  3. Soak the waffle-cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and create a crispier fry.
  4. Drain and pat the potatoes dry with paper towels.
  5. In a large bowl, toss the dried waffle fries with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper until evenly coated.
  6. Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy your crispy waffle fries!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can double fry the potatoes. Fry them once at a lower temperature, then let them cool and fry again at a higher temperature.
  • Feel free to experiment with different seasonings to customize your waffle fries.
