Description
This Crispy Chicken Sandwich is the ultimate comfort food, featuring a juicy, crispy chicken breast, fresh toppings, and a delicious sauce, all sandwiched between a toasted bun.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 4 hamburger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Pickles
- Your favorite sauce (mayo, spicy mayo, or ranch)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine buttermilk with salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken breasts and marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
- In another bowl, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and remaining salt and pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture, pressing to adhere.
- Fry chicken breasts in hot oil for 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Toast the hamburger buns in the same skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the sandwich by placing crispy chicken on the bottom bun, followed by lettuce, tomato, pickles, and sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra crunch, double-dip the chicken in buttermilk and flour before frying.
- Feel free to add cheese or your favorite toppings to customize your sandwich.
- Serve with fries or a side salad for a complete meal.
