Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound chicken tenders
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a bowl, soak the chicken tenders in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours) in the refrigerator.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat well.
- Arrange the coated chicken tenders in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure they are not touching to allow for even cooking.
- Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
- Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra crunch, you can double-dip the chicken by returning it to the buttermilk and then back to the flour mixture before air frying.
- Feel free to customize the spices in the flour mixture to your taste.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for best results.
