Ingredients

- 8 ounces pasta (spaghetti or penne)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the diced tomatoes (with their juices) and dried basil to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Serve topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
