Description
Juicy, flavorful smash burgers that are quick and easy to make, perfect for a backyard BBQ or a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
- Lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion for toppings
- Condiments of choice (ketchup, mustard, mayo)
Instructions
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently shape them into balls. Do not overwork the meat.
- Once the skillet or grill is hot, place the beef balls onto the surface. Use a spatula to smash each ball down flat, creating a patty. Press down firmly to ensure a good sear.
- Season the patties with salt and pepper.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes, until the edges are brown and crispy.
- Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of cheese on top of each one. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a separate skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the bottom half of the buns and adding your favorite toppings and condiments.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your classic smash burgers!
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or onion powder to the beef before cooking.
- Do not press down on the patties after smashing them; this can cause them to lose juices and become dry.
- Feel free to customize toppings according to your preference.
