Description
A classic Clam Bake brings together the flavors of the ocean with tender clams, sweet corn, and smoky sausage, all steamed together for a delicious and communal meal. Perfect for summer gatherings or beach parties.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 dozen fresh clams, scrubbed
- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
- 4 ears of corn, husked and cut in half
- 2 pounds baby potatoes, halved
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare a large pot with a steaming rack and fill it with water just below the rack. Bring to a boil over high heat.
- Layer the baby potatoes at the bottom of the pot. Cover and steam for about 10 minutes.
- Add the sliced sausage and corn to the pot, cover, and steam for an additional 5 minutes.
- Finally, add the clams, cover the pot, and steam until the clams open, about 5-7 minutes. Discard any clams that do not open.
- Remove from heat and drizzle with melted butter, and season with salt and pepper. Serve with lemon wedges and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- Make sure to scrub the clams thoroughly to remove any sand or grit.
- This recipe can be easily scaled up for larger gatherings.
- For added flavor, consider adding herbs like thyme or bay leaves to the steaming water.
