- 2 cups Granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons Baking powder
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon Lime zest
- 1/4 cup Lime juice
- 4 cups Cream cheese frosting
- as needed Fresh berries (for decoration)
- as needed Edible flowers (for decoration)
- as needed Colored sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the softened butter and mix until crumbly.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then stir in the milk, vanilla extract, lime zest, and lime juice.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of cream cheese frosting on top.
- Add the second layer of cake and repeat with frosting. Top with the third layer of cake.
- Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining cream cheese frosting.
- Decorate with fresh berries, edible flowers, and colored sprinkles as desired.
