These churro waffles are a delightful twist on a classic treat, served with a rich dulce de leche sauce for drizzling.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
- 1 cup dulce de leche (for drizzling)
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; do not overmix.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or butter.
- Pour enough batter into the preheated waffle iron to just cover the waffle grid. Close the lid and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 5 minutes.
- While the waffles are cooking, mix the 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Once the waffles are cooked, remove them from the iron and immediately coat both sides in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Serve the churro waffles warm, drizzled with dulce de leche.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the batter.
- Serve with whipped cream or fresh fruit for a complete dessert.
- These waffles are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in a toaster for a quick treat.
