Caramelized Corn on the Cob: 5 Steps to Perfectly Sweet Delight

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Sweet, buttery, and perfectly caramelized, this corn on the cob is a delightful summer treat that pairs well with any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ears of corn, husked
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Husk the corn and remove all silk. Rinse under cold water and pat dry.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until sugar dissolves and mixture is smooth.
  4. Add heavy cream to the mixture and bring to a gentle boil. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  5. Place corn on the grill, turning every few minutes, until tender and charred, about 10-15 minutes.
  6. Brush the caramel sauce over the grilled corn generously, allowing it to caramelize for an additional 2-3 minutes on the grill.
  7. Remove from grill, let cool slightly, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle with chili powder or parmesan cheese before serving.
  • Make sure to watch the caramel closely to avoid burning.
