This delicious blackberry crisp combines sweet and tart blackberries with a crunchy oat topping, perfect for a summer dessert.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine blackberries, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mix well and pour into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, melted butter, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
  4. Spread the oat mixture evenly over the blackberry filling in the baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar over the topping.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the blackberries are bubbling.
  7. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
  • You can substitute fresh blackberries with frozen ones, just make sure to thaw and drain them first.
