Description

Celebrate graduation with this adorable bento cake, perfect for gifting or sharing with friends and family. This cake is not only delicious but also visually appealing, making it a great centerpiece for any graduation party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttercream frosting (for decoration)
  • Graduation-themed decorations (edible or non-edible)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bento box or a small cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared bento box or pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before removing it.
  8. Once cooled, frost the top of the cake with buttercream frosting and decorate with graduation-themed decorations.
  9. If desired, use food coloring to tint your frosting for a more personalized touch.
  10. Slice the cake into portions directly from the bento box, or remove it and place it on a serving platter.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider adding cocoa powder for a chocolate bento cake.
  • Feel free to customize the decorations to fit the graduate’s school colors or personal style.
  • Store any leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
