Description
A deliciously tender and flavorful Japanese dish made with seared beef, served with a tangy dipping sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound beef tenderloin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 2 green onions
- 1/2 cup daikon radish

Instructions
- Season the beef tenderloin with salt and black pepper on all sides.
- Heat sesame oil in a skillet over high heat. Sear the beef on all sides until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the beef from the pan and let it cool slightly. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, and mirin to create the dipping sauce.
- Once the beef is chilled, slice it thinly against the grain.
- Arrange the sliced beef on a serving plate, topped with green onions, grated daikon, and toasted sesame seeds.
- Serve with the dipping sauce on the side.
Notes
- For best results, use high-quality beef tenderloin.
- Make sure to slice the beef thinly for a more tender bite.
- You can serve the tataki with additional garnishes like shiso leaves or chili flakes.
