- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 8 oz (225g) pasta (penne or spaghetti recommended)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parmesan cheese for serving
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot, cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, beef broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat and let the sauce cook for about 10 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to combine with the sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
