Description
This beef jerky recipe is perfect for making savory, flavorful jerky in your dehydrator. It’s easy to prepare and makes for a great snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds of lean beef (such as flank steak or sirloin)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Trim all visible fat from the beef and slice it into thin strips, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.
- In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the beef strips to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
- After marinating, remove the beef from the marinade and let the excess drip off. Pat the strips dry with paper towels.
- Arrange the beef strips in a single layer on the dehydrator trays, making sure they do not overlap.
- Set the dehydrator to 155°F (68°C) and dry the beef jerky for 4 to 8 hours, or until it reaches your desired texture. The jerky should be dry but still somewhat pliable.
- Once done, let the jerky cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.
Notes
- For a spicier version, increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
- Make sure to use lean cuts of beef to prevent spoilage.
- Store the jerky in a cool, dry place or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
