Ingredients
Scale
- 4–5 lbs beef brisket
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
- In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Remove the brisket from the pot and set aside. In the same pot, add sliced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until translucent.
- Return the brisket to the pot, adding beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.
- Cover the pot with a lid or foil and transfer it to the preheated oven.
- Bake for 4-5 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender. Check occasionally and add more broth if needed.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing against the grain.
Notes
- For best results, use a quality cut of brisket.
- Leftover brisket can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
