bbq ribs: The Secret to Perfectly Tender and Juicy Ribs

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

These BBQ ribs are tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Perfectly seasoned and slow-cooked, they are glazed with a homemade BBQ sauce that caramelizes beautifully on the grill.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 racks of baby back ribs (about 4 pounds total)
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (for homemade BBQ sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 300°F). If using a charcoal grill, set up for indirect cooking.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better tenderness and flavor absorption.
  4. Rub the spice mixture generously over both sides of the ribs.
  5. Place the ribs on the grill bone-side down. If using a charcoal grill, place the ribs away from the direct heat.
  6. Cover the grill and cook for about 2 to 2.5 hours, turning occasionally, until the ribs are tender and the meat pulls away from the bones.
  7. In the last 30 minutes of cooking, brush the ribs with BBQ sauce and allow to glaze, turning occasionally to avoid burning.
  8. Once cooked, remove the ribs from the grill, let them rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve with additional BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

  • For an even smokier flavor, add wood chips to the grill.
  • Feel free to adjust the spice level by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
  • If you prefer oven-baked ribs, wrap the ribs in foil and bake at 300°F for 2.5 to 3 hours before finishing on the grill.
