  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Tender, juicy pulled pork smothered in BBQ sauce, served on a soft bun. Perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pounds pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • Coleslaw (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it’s well coated.
  4. Place the pork shoulder in a roasting pan and cover it tightly with aluminum foil.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 6 to 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  6. Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
  7. Shred the pork using two forks, discarding any large pieces of fat.
  8. In a large bowl, mix the shredded pork with BBQ sauce until well combined.
  9. To serve, pile the pulled pork onto hamburger buns and top with coleslaw if desired.

Notes

  • Leftover pulled pork can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • This pulled pork can also be made in a slow cooker on low for 8 hours.
  • Feel free to customize your BBQ sauce with additional spices or sweetness, like honey or brown sugar.
