- 4 pounds pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 6 hamburger buns
- Coleslaw (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it’s well coated.
- Place the pork shoulder in a roasting pan and cover it tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 6 to 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Shred the pork using two forks, discarding any large pieces of fat.
- In a large bowl, mix the shredded pork with BBQ sauce until well combined.
- To serve, pile the pulled pork onto hamburger buns and top with coleslaw if desired.
Notes
- Leftover pulled pork can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- This pulled pork can also be made in a slow cooker on low for 8 hours.
- Feel free to customize your BBQ sauce with additional spices or sweetness, like honey or brown sugar.
