- 2 lbs beef brisket
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Buns for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your smoker or grill to 225°F (107°C).
- In a bowl, combine smoked paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket evenly.
- Place the brisket in the smoker or grill and cook for about 1.5 to 2 hours per pound, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 195°F (90°C).
- During the last hour of cooking, brush the brisket with BBQ sauce.
- Once cooked, remove the brisket from the smoker and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
- Slice the brisket against the grain and serve on buns with additional BBQ sauce.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the brisket overnight with the spice rub.
- Ensure your smoker has enough wood chips to maintain the smoke for the duration of the cooking.
