Description
A classic Southern dessert made with layers of creamy vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and crisp vanilla wafers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (5.1 oz) vanilla pudding mix
- 4 cups milk
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 ripe bananas
- 1 box vanilla wafers
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the vanilla pudding mix and milk. Whisk until smooth and set aside for about 5 minutes to thicken.
- In another bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk and heavy cream. Whip until soft peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream mixture into the pudding mixture until fully combined.
- Add the vanilla extract and mix gently.
- To assemble, start with a layer of vanilla wafers at the bottom of a serving dish.
- Slice 2 bananas and layer them over the wafers.
- Pour a layer of the pudding mixture over the bananas.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with the pudding on top.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, slice the remaining bananas and place them on top as a garnish.
Notes
- Use ripe bananas for the best flavor.
- You can substitute homemade pudding for the instant pudding mix if desired.
- For an extra touch, add a layer of crushed cookies between the layers.
