Baked Churros with Dark Chocolate Dipping Sauce: 1 Perfect Treat

These delicious baked churros are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served with a rich dark chocolate dipping sauce for a perfect treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms.
  4. Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then add eggs and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  6. Pipe 4-6 inch strips onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for coating.
  9. Remove churros from the oven and immediately roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  10. For the dipping sauce, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until just simmering, then remove from heat and add dark chocolate chips, stirring until smooth.
  11. Serve churros warm with dark chocolate dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Churros are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
