Ingredients

- 1 lb breakfast sausage, crumbled
- 6 slices bread, cubed (white or whole wheat)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the crumbled sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, cooked sausage, and shredded cheese. Mix well and pour into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and sausage mixture in the baking dish.
- If desired, sprinkle chopped green onions on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the casserole is set and golden brown on top.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can prepare this casserole the night before, just cover and refrigerate. Bake in the morning, adding an extra 10-15 minutes to the baking time.
- Feel free to customize with your favorite vegetables or cheese.
