Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • Fresh herbs (such as rosemary or thyme) for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
  2. Pat the whole chicken dry with paper towels. This helps to ensure a crispy skin.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and dried thyme.
  4. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin and inside the cavity.
  5. Stuff the cavity of the chicken with the lemon halves.
  6. Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket.
  7. Cook the chicken for 30 minutes, then carefully flip it to breast-side up and cook for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
  9. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve.
