- 1 whole chicken (about 4–5 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 lemon, halved
- Fresh herbs (such as rosemary or thyme) for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
- Pat the whole chicken dry with paper towels. This helps to ensure a crispy skin.
- In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and dried thyme.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin and inside the cavity.
- Stuff the cavity of the chicken with the lemon halves.
- Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket.
- Cook the chicken for 30 minutes, then carefully flip it to breast-side up and cook for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve.
