Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 4 sandwich buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and your favorite condiments

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, soak the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.
  5. Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.
  6. Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray the tops with cooking spray.
  7. Cook in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).
  8. Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Assemble the sandwiches by placing the chicken on buns and adding lettuce, tomato, and condiments as desired.
